The organization was started by a group of science-enthusiastic students in 1984 with a vision to change society’s perspective of science and develop a scientific temperament in the community. They worked towards making science easy to comprehend and encouraged people to see the world through a scientific lens.
The organization was formally registered on 4th June 2009 by the then Mayor of Meerut, Ms. Kamini Ratan Chauhan, who was impressed by its work and wanted to make it the culture of the city. Since then, it has grown from conducting science awareness programmes to hosting a wide range of science events.
Since 2013, we have hosted a science-based web channel — “Vigyan Aao Karke Sikhe” — running live 24×7 since 2016. It features science documentaries, films, live events, interviews of famous scientists and educationists, and broadcasts science news from around the world. The channel has 12K+ subscribers and around 1,000 views per day.
Since 2015 we have also published a monthly magazine, “Vigyan Aao Karke Sikhe”, featuring science articles and research from authors across the country, with a subscription base of more than 1,000 readers nationwide.
Another characteristic product of the organization is the World’s First Science-Based Reality Show — “Vigyan Ghar”. It houses the most creative students selected from across the country, who come together to solve the nation’s problems with a scientific outlook.
For over 30 years we have worked closely with the Council of Science and Technology, Uttar Pradesh and the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. We have trained around 200 resource persons who have performed at national and state levels, and have participated in the India International Science Festival and the Indian Science Congress since their inception.
The organization was awarded the “Rajendra Prabhu Memorial Award for Science Popularization 2020” by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, for outstanding work in science communication, popularization and extension activities.
